On Jan 6 ,WGBH of Boston is going to show a program about McCarthy. WGBH is known for its'
leftist orientation. They are going to put McCarthy in a bad light and not put anything factually
positive about him. We,on this blog,will give the rest of the story,which WGBH did not do.
One clue of any story about McCarthy where they don't give the history of Soviet spy penetration of our government and industrial and commercial entities of our country,it's just a hatchet job against
McCarthy.One of these anti-communist entities was the VENONA PROJECT.(VP)
VP was a top secret
entity in the Army Signal Corp that was decripting the messages that these Kremlin spies were sending back to the Kremlin. It was doing excellent work until a Kremlin spy in the VP informed the
Kremlin what VP was doing and the spy masters in the Kremlin changed their system of communication. McCarthy once said that one communist in the government was one communist
too many.One communist in the VP was one communist too many!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
McCarthy did not know about the VP. Had he known,probably he could have saved the VP in the
fight against the Kremlin spies.and informed the American people about these Kremlin spies
in our government.
You have to remember that at that time the leftist main stream media was the only major news outlet
in the USA.you didn't have the internet,Fox News,etc,etc,.The American people only got the leftist main stream media narrative on the nightly news.
(UPDATE:1/7/20-The WGBH McCarthyism program did not mention the top secret VENONA
PROJECT . The WGBH McCarthyism program was a hatchet job on McCarthy!)
The name of the house committee investigating communism was HCUA-House Committee
on UnAmerican Activities.Throughout this program they used the communist slur HUAC.

Diplomat George Kennan drew on his State Department 
ommunists to provide his view that “The penetration 
of the American governmental services by members or 
agents (conscious or otherwise) of the American Com- 
munist Party in the late 1930s was not a figment of the 
imagination ... it really existed; and it assumed propor- 
tions which, while never overwhelming, were also not 
trivial.” Kennan wrote that under the Roosevelt adminis- 
tration: “warnings which should have been heeded fell too 
often on deaf or incredulous ears.” 11431 However, Kennan 
made his assessment before the revelation of the Venona 
decrypts. The facts in the Venona documents were damn- 
ing. The previous cautious assessments had to be re- 
vised. Not a few “but hundreds of American Commu- 
nists abetted Soviet espionage in the United States” in the 
1930s and 1940s. No modem government had been more 
thoroughly penetrated. Plus, only a tiny fraction of the 
Venona intercepts have been decrypted (about 3%), so 
no one knows the entire extent of the penetration. All 
anyone can know for sure is that the Soviet penetration 
into the United States government was massive.

5 HUAC and SACB 

McCarthy’s hearings are often incorrectly conflated with 
the hearings of the House Committee on Un-American 
Activities (HUAC). HUAC is best known for the inves- 
tigation of Alger Hiss and for its investigation of the 
Hollywood film industry, which led to the blacklisting of 
hundreds of actors, writers, and directors. HUAC was 
a House committee, and as such had no formal connec- 
tion with McCarthy, who served in the Senate, although 
the existence of the House Un-American Activities Com- 
mittee thrived in part as a result of McCarthy’s activities. 
HUAC was active for 29 years.

(It's not HUAC,it's HCUA. HUAC is a communist slur on the HCUA!!!!) 

Similarly, the Subversive Activities Control Board 
(SACB) was a five-member committee established by the 
McCarran Internal Security Act, which had a mandate, 
similar to HUAC and inspired by McCarthy, to locate 
and investigate so-called “subversives”, or those sympa- 
thetic to the Communists. They were accused of pro- 
moting the establishment of a “totalitarian dictatorship” 
in the United States. Truman vetoed the act, sending 
Congress a lengthy veto message in which he criticized 
specific provisions as “the greatest danger to freedom of 
speech, press, and assembly since the Alien and Sedition 
Laws of 1798,” and called it a “mockery of the Bill of 
Rights” and a “long step toward totalitarianism”. His veto 
was overridden. SACB was active for 22 years.
