The Crime Prevention Research Center is a pro-2A think tank specializing in gun-related issues. It’s been monitoring the number of concealed carry permit holders in the US since it was founded in 2013 and has been collecting data going back before that. What the data shows, is in the last two decades, the number of Americans with a permit has risen steeply. In 1999, there were 2.7 million permit holders; now there are 19.48 million — almost 8% of US adults.
